I missed season one of gossip girls. I know that Serena left at the end and then came back. Does anyone know why she left? also, she left on the finale episode of season one, right?

Okay so in the gossip girls series, I’m almost finished the first season. I really want to know if Dan and Serena stay together. I’m not sure what season is on TV now, but are they together on TV now? I hope they are. They are still together in season one, but i hear they break up on the season finale. What happens? Do they ever get back together???
